As LTA Global, we closely follow the development of software and hardware technologies, one of the most important requirements of the century we live in. We know that the effects of advances in data storage and data analysis are not limited to the laboratory environment, but that the technologies that affect our daily lives the most work with millions of data that we unknowingly produce. And the area where these technologies are used the most is undoubtedly Smart City Projects.
Smart cities are a new urban development approach in which the vision of urban development is combined with digital technologies such as informatics and the internet of things and then these are integrated into urban services and products such as transportation, health, education, infrastructure and municipal processes. In this approach, it is desired to ensure the participation of citizens in decision-making processes as well as in usage processes.
A smart city’s urban planning process also relies on data-driven remote administration of a variety of urban services, including waste collection, public transit, water use in parks and gardens, and energy consumption. In this sense, monitoring the infrastructure needs, water-energy demand, and municipal street lighting needs in the city in real-time and developing appropriate policies and practices are the basis of smart cities. Although there is no definite and clear framework for the smart city approach, the point on which many different approaches agree is that urban development should be measured with many indicators. In this sense, as LTA Global, we examine the smart city model, which is considered at the international level, under 6 basic areas, 27 headings and 90 indicators. These 6 basic areas include:
1) Smart Economy: This field covers topics such as creative spirit, entrepreneurship, city image, productivity, labor market, and international integration but while focusing on the economy, it does not neglect to focus on the individual who is the main producer of this economic development.
2) Smart Mobility: This area, which includes topics such as the local transportation system, international accessibility, information technology infrastructure, and the sustainability of the transportation system, strives for the sustainability and reliability of transportation services.
3) Smart Government: This area focuses on topics such as political awareness, public and social services and efficient and transparent administration. It also aims to eliminate the one-sided aspect of the management process and emphasizes the importance of mutual interaction for many stakeholders in various positions in the management process.
4) Smart Living: The smart living component deals with cultural and leisure activities, health conditions, individual safety, housing quality, educational institutions, tourist attractions, and social integration. It also aims to increase the quality of life of citizens and visitors of all age groups and various other demographic characteristics.
5) Smart Environment: This area focuses on topics such as environmental awareness, air quality, ecological sensitivity and sustainable resource management. It also focuses especially on ensuring healthy environmental conditions for the citizens of municipalities. According to this understanding, issues such as reducing waste generation, monitoring and managing pollution, reducing emissions, water management, and ensuring energy efficiency should be the biggest concerns of municipalities regarding the environment.
6) Smart People: The field of smart people, which covers topics such as education, lifelong learning, ethnic diversity and open-mindedness, undoubtedly pays attention to individuals who are aware of themselves and their skills, and live in harmony with their environment. To promote community well-being and innovation, smart individuals are in favor of establishing an open and welcoming environment.
With these goals in mind, whether it’s a private sector or a public sector, the idea of the preservation of the environment and natural life has been incorporated into LTA Global’s operations as a social duty. For this reason, LTA Global aims to contribute to at least 3 articles from the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Global Compact in all projects whether it is a project that LTA Global is a partner of or a service that LTA Global directly provided.
